DESIGN YOUR COLD CLIMATE
FOOD FOREST WORKSHOP

Saturday, April 11, 1-5pm, Bozeman

LEARN FROM MY 10+ YEARS OF FOOD FOREST EXPERIENCE!

If you love the idea of feeding your family fresh homegrown fruits and nuts from your very own food forest then this workshop might be for you.

In this interactive workshop, I’ll not only share my step-by-step process for getting a food forest design on paper but you’ll benefit from over ten years of experience designing and installing both my food forest and helping clients with theirs.

While I’ve found that the food forest concept has taken off in the last decade, the prospect of translating the idea into a manageable and doable plan is often daunting.  And while there is a lot of information about tropical food forests out there, there is less of an understanding of cold climate food forests and less examples to draw from. And when the information does exist, it is often overwhelming.

INTRODUCING:

Instructor

Hi, I’m Kareen Erbe. I help people in cold climates grow their own food so they can eat healthier, live more sustainably and become more self-reliant. Through workshops, consultations, garden design services and my signature Resilient Homestead Program, I’ve helped thousands of people turn their yards into delicious, edible landscapes.

Together with my husband, I live on a suburban homestead in Bozeman, Montana, with a greenhouse, pond, vegetable gardens, a food forest of fruit trees and berry bushes, and a flock of chickens.

We are in USDA Hardiness Zone 4b with a growing season of approximately 110 days. Yet, despite our short growing season and long winters, we produce a good portion of our own food, including six months of fresh fruit every year and pounds and pounds of frozen and dehydrated fruit that lasts us well into the winter.

In fact, one of my favorite things that I like to do with my clients is to get them started on perennial food forest systems that will feed them for years to come.

In a world where biodiversity loss, desertification, the climate crisis, water scarcity and other ecological crises loom, planting trees is one of the most hopeful things that we can do at this time. It is a way in which humans can participate in regeneration, in carbon sequestration, in reducing our food miles and in becoming more connected to our food system.

This class is for you if:

I couldn't recommend more ANY class/workshop/consultation with this wise, funny, knowledgeable and effective teacher. Kareen knows her stuff and shares it beautifully.

Kareen provided incredible guidance and information, but also put me in the driver’s seat and gave me the confidence to envision and build my new garden space. I no longer feel that all of my time is spent weeding and digging. Now I’m continuing to build a functional space, and it’s become so much more fun.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

We will be meeting on Saturday, April 11,  from 1-5pm in Bozeman (location and directions given once you register).

The class will last four hours with plenty of breaks and time for Q&A.

There is a lot of information out there about food forests, but that’s part of the problem. It’s hard to sift through what’s relevant for your yard, your climate and your lifestyle. This workshop is not only specific to cold climates, it’s a chance to get me LIVE to answer your specific questions and address your concerns.

Absolutely! Planning your food forest now will allow you to be prepared once the planting season rolls around.
